The power of
FM Transmitters

FM Products are divided in in different segments depending on their radio output power. Below is a quick guide that tells you the average coverage of a dipole antenna at 8m over ground level providing there are no major obstacles like elevated terrain.

This is called Low Power RF Transmitter, the output from these FM Transmitters will cover most Drive-In setups. Most times it is necessary to increase the RF output level to overcome the frequency spectrum RF noise.

It is important to consider that no RF Transmitter from this range will have any decent audio processing for dynamics.

A professional dynamic control unit is complex and the ones that provide the best results are the dedicated units to achieve the task of delivering clean pristine and consistent volumes without distortion to the input stages of the FM Transmitter / Modulator.

This output from the FM Transmitter will cover easily most Drive-In and much larger setups. The range is larger than the area but sometimes it is necessary to increase the RF output level to overcome the frequency spectrum RF noise.

This units usually have a basic compander built-in. This is commonly more advanced than the 1W units but limited in processing quality causing ear fatigue due to over-compression of the audio program.

This is appropriate for Fireworks Displays like the Dubai Guinness Record, where the spectators could listen to the music that is synchronized with the Pyro Show.

This is most used in FM Radio Stations. Sometimes the use of other types of antennas like an array Helical or Unpolarized antennas is used to mitigate FM waves reflections, shadows from buildings and other structures.

Having a high power single source is more effective than having multiple transmitters on different zones.
